Şehrengizler, klasik Türk edebiyatında özellikle 16. yüzyılda rağbet görmüş bir manzum türdür. Bir şehrin güzellerini ve
güzelliklerini konu edinen bu manzum türdeki eserler, genellikle mesnevi nazım şekliyle ve sade bir dille kaleme alınmışlardır.
Şimdiye kadar yapılan çalışmalarda daha çok İstanbul, Bursa, Edirne gibi şehirler için yazıldığı tespit edilen bu türdeki bilinen
eser sayısı 85’tir.
Bu çalışmanın konusunu teşkil eden Kütahya Şehrengizi, bu türde kaleme alınan ve şimdiye kadar varlığı bilinmeyen bir
eserdir. Hayatı hakkında kaynaklarda herhangi bir bilgi bulunmayan Abdî mahlaslı bir şair tarafından 16. yüzyılın sonunda
telif edilen bu eser, edebiyatımızda Kütahya için yazılan tek şehrengiz olma özelliği taşımaktadır. 228 beyitten müteşekkil
olan ve mesnevi nazım şekliyle yazılan Kütahya Şehrengizi’nde, şehrin sahip olduğu bazı güzelliklerle birlikte otuz başlık
altında bu şehirde yaşayan otuz bir güzelin tavsifi yapılmıştır.
Bu çalışmada Kütahya Şehrengizi’nin şekil ve muhteva özellikleri üzerine birtakım değerlendirmelerde bulunularak çeviri
yazılı metnine yer verilmiştir.

The works about the cities (they are called as “şehrengiz”) is a kind of poetic works which got in favour in classical Turkish
literature especially in 16th century. Those poetic works which include a city’s pretty people and beauties were written
generally in the masnavi verse form and in a simple language. The number of works which are known in this type, which was
determined that was written for the cities mostly such as Istanbul, Bursa, Edirne in the studies which have been made up to
now, is 85.
Kütahya’s Sehrengiz which constitute this study’s subject is a work written in this genre and its existence has not been
known up to now. This work, which was written at the end of 16th century by a poet whose pen name is Abdî and about his
life there isn’t any information in the sources, has a feature of being the sole sehrengiz written about Kutahya in our
literature. In Kutahya’s Sehrengiz which consists of 228 couplets and written in the masnavi form, it was given the
description of thirty one people lived in this city, under thirty titles and some beauties of the city.
In this study, a number of evaluations were made on the form and content features of Kutahya’s Sehrengiz and transcription
oof the work was presented.
