Bu çalışmada amaç, Osmanlı padişahlarının otuz dördüncüsü olan II. Abdülhamid’in saltanat yıllarında (31 Ağustos 1876–27 Nisan 1909) Batı dillerinden Osmanlı Türkçesine çevirisi yapılan romanların bir listesini hazırlayarak bu listeden hareketle dönemin çeviri romanları hakkında çeviribilim bağlamında genel bilgiler vermektir. Bilindiği üzere ro-man, Batı’ya özgü bir türdür ve Türk kültür ve edebiyat dizgesi bu tür ile Tanzimat Dö-nemi’nde çeviriler yoluyla karşılaşmıştır. Türk toplumu tarafından kısa sürede kabul gö-ren ve merak uyandıran bu türde gerek telif gerekse çeviri birçok eser kaleme alınmıştır. Yusuf Kamil Paşa’nın Fransız yazar Fénelon’dan çevirdiği Tercüme-i Telemak (1279 [1862]), Türk edebiyatında ilk çeviri roman kabul edilmektedir. Bu çeviriden itibaren 1928 yılında Latin harflerinin kabulüne kadar yüzlerce roman Osmanlı Türkçesine çev-rilmiş ve Türk okuruna sunulmuştur. Bu bibliyografik çalışmada, II. Abdülhamid’in sal-tanat yıllarındaki çeviri romanların bir listesi yapılacak ve bu romanların genel özellikle-rine değinilecektir.

The purpose of this study is to compile a list of the novels translated from Western langu-ages to Ottoman Turkish during the reign of the thirty-fourth Ottoman Sultan, Abdül-hamid II (August 31, 1876 – April 27, 1909), and use this list to provide general informa-tion about the translated novels of the era in the context of translation studies. It is known that the novel is a genre unique to the West, and the Turkish culture and literature system was introduced to this genre through translations in the Tanzimat (Reorganiza-tion) Period. The genre piqued the interest of the Turkish society and was quickly adop-ted, leading to the creation of a large number of original and translated works. The first translated novel in Turkish literature is considered to be Yusuf Kamil Paşa’s translation of Fénelon’s Telemaque, printed as Tercüme-i Telemak (1279 [1862]). From this translation to the adoption of the Latin script in 1928, hundreds of novels were translated to Otto-man Turkish and presented to the Turkish readership. This bibliographical study will include a list of translated novels during the reign of Abdülhamid II, and the general pro-perties of these novels.
