Cumhuriyet döneminin özgün eğitim ve ahlâkçılarından biri Nurettin Topçu’dur. Hayatı, mücadele azmi, kararlılığı, ciddiyeti, tercih ettiği yöntem, kullandığı kavramlar ve bilgi edinme türü onu çağdaşı aydınlardan belirgin bir şekilde farklılaştırır. Hayatın her meselesiyle ilgilenen Topçu, eğitime hususî bir yer verir ve Türkiye’nin köklü bir maarif davasına sahip olduğunu belirtir. Ona göre Türkiye’de eğitimin millîlik vasfında ciddî sorun vardır. Türk eğitim sistemi gerek amaç, gerekse felsefe ve yöntem bakımından oldukça problemlidir. Batı kökenli sistemler ülkenin eğitim sistemini felç etmiştir. Bu kötüye gidişin başlangıcı çok öncelere dayanmaktadır. Ona göre medreseler skolastizmin merkezi olmuştur, yerine kurulan mektepler ise Batı hayatını taklit etmekle aynı mirası sürdürmüştür. Eğitim sisteminin diğer en önemli meseleleri yabancı okullar, yabancı dille eğitim ve özel okullardır. Din ve ahlâk eğitimi alanında büyük bir çöküntü yaşanmaktadır. 1950 sonrası din ve ahlâk eğitimi ve din adamlarına şiddetli eleştiriler yönelten Topçu, hem tamamıyla millî, devlet kontrolünde bir eğitim hayatını savunur hem de devlet eliyle verilen din eğitimine kesinlikle karşı çıkar. Bu yazıda muhafazakâr kimliğiyle tanınan isyan ahlâkının öncü ismi, Anadoluculuk siyasetinin savunucusu Nurettin Topçu’nun eğitimin ve eğitimcinin farklı sorunlarına nasıl baktığı, bu konulara ne tür eleştiri ve öneri getirdiği, çözümler sunduğu eleştirel bir yöntemle tartışılmıştır.

Nurettin Topçu is one of the prominent educator and moralist of Republican
period. His struggle for life, stability, seriousness, methods,
concepts that he used, and obtaining of knowledge, makes him significantly
different among the contemporary intellectual. Topçu thought
with every issue of the life and have made a special place for education
and remarked that Turkey has deep rooted educational problems. According
to him, nationalistic character of Turkish education has serious
problems. Educational system quite troubled in term of both aims and
philosophy. Western origin systems have crippled the educational
system. The initiation of this bad situation goes too back. In addition to
him, madrassas became a center of scholastic, and the new schools
which was opened instead of them, continued the same legacy by imitating
Western life. Foreign schools, teaching with foreign language
and private schools are other basic problems of the educational system.
There are the great depression in the field of teaching of religion and
morale. Topçu severely criticized the religious functionaries and teaching
of religion and morale methods after 1950. He defended an educational
life that completely national and under control of the state, but
he definitely rejected religious education given by the state. In this
paper, it has been argued that how Nurettin Topçu who is recognized
with his pro-conservative identity and known as the leading name of
“Ethics of Revolt” as well as the defender of Anatolianism policy
evaluated the different problems of education and educators, how he
analysed and criticised such matters and what kind of proposals he
offered on these problems by a way of criticizing some of his views.
