Çalışmak, ekonomik kazanç sağlamanın yanı sıra bireyin hayatını anlamlandırmasını ve yaşam doyumunu artırmasını sağlamaktadır. Bir işe sahip olamama birçok psikolojik sorunu beraberinde getirmektedir. İşsiz kalma süresinin uzaması ile birlikte psikolojik sorunlar artmakta ve bireylerin kendilerine olan güvenleri azalmaktadır. Yaşanan ekonomik sıkıntıların yanı sıra aile ya da yakın bireylerden alınacak desteğin azalması ile bireyin yaşadığı olumsuz duygular daha da artabilmektedir. Bu çalışmada özel bir eğitim kurumunda Kamu Personeli Seçme Sınavı (KPSS)’na hazırlanan öğretmen adaylarının umutsuzluk ve sosyal destek düzeyleri bazı değişkenler açısından ele alınmıştır. Araştırmada, katılımcıların umutsuzluk düzeylerini belirlemek amacıyla Beck Umutsuzluk Ölçeği (BUÖ) ve sosyal destek düzeylerini belirleyebilmek amacıyla da Çok Boyutlu Algılanan Sosyal Destek Ölçeği (ÇBASDÖ) kullanılmıştır. Araştırma örneklemini, öğretmen adaylarını KPSS’ye hazırlayan özel bir dershanede eğitim almakta olan 156 öğretmen adayı oluşturmaktadır. Araştırma verileri Kruskal Wallis-H ve Mann Whitney U testleri ile analiz edilmiştir. BUÖ toplam puanı ve alt ölçekleri ile ÇBASDÖ toplam puanı ve alt ölçekleri arasında anlamlı ilişki bulunmaktadır. Katılımcıların cinsiyet ve medeni durum değişkenlerine göre sosyal destek düzeyleri arasında anlamlı farklılık elde edilmiştir. Öğretmen adaylarının yaşları arttıkça umutsuzluk düzeyleri artmaktadır. Sınava giriş sayısı arttıkça umutsuzluk ve sosyal destek düzeyleri farklılık göstermektedir. Var olan durum ve sorunlara psikolojik danışma ile farklı bakış açıları kazandırılması sağlanabilir.

In addition to providing economic benefits, working provides to increase the life satisfaction and added the meaning of life. Inability to have a job brings many psychological problems. Individuals who are unable to obtain the necessary financial means in order to satisfy their basic needs lose their self-confidence and self-esteem. In addition to the economic problems, negative emotions experienced by the individual may be higher as a result of peer or family support reduction. In this study, social support and hopelessness levels of teacher candidates preparing for the Public Personnel Selection Examination (PPSE) were examined in terms of some variables. To determine the levels of hopelessness Beck Hopelessness Scale (BHS) and to determine the levels of social support Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) were used for the research. 156 teacher candidates training in a private teaching institution are the study group of the research. Kruskal-Wallis H test was used for independent groups and Mann-Whitney U test was used for comparison of means between two groups. It has been concluded that there is significant correlation between the subscales of BHS (feelings about the future, loss of motivation, and expectations) and the subscales of MSPSS (family, significant other, and friend). Although there were no significant differences between the hopelessness levels of participants in terms of gender, female teacher candidates' perceptions of social support were significantly higher than the male teacher candidates’. As the age of the teacher candidates the level of hopelessness is increasing. With increasing the number of exam entrance than the levels of hopelessness is increasing, but levels of social support are decreasing. Lastly the marital status is another variable that affecting the social support of the participants. By means of counseling it can be possible to find different perspective into any underlying causes of the situations or problems.
